Surly Big Dummy

The Surly Big Dummy is the perfect longtail bike. The sturdy frame, constructed from TIG welded CroMo steel, has a combined rider-load weight limit of 400 pounds! Quality components like the Shimano Deore drivetrain and Avid disc brakes augment this very functional bike.

Built around the Xtracycle platform, but as a dedicated single-piece frame. That means a stouter, more torsionally rigid bike that's more resistant to fatique and failure.  All Big Dummys include the Flightdeck and the Freeloader Panniers. The Freeloader is tough and roomy and has cozy toe pockets for your passengers. This bike is fully compatable with any Xtracycle accessory. Load your groceries, load your kids, this option gives you endless possibilities.

We've also recommend adding front and rear fenders and a stoker bar with Civia grips to assure you're ready for any load and any weather. 

To top it all off, add the BionX PL350 to add extra umph when you're in a hurry or in need of assistance getting your load up hills.
